Man shot in arm during soccer match in Co Tipperary
A man participating in a football match was shot and wounded in the arm following an incident at a sports venue.
The incident happened shortly after 9pm near Rear Cross in Co Tipperary during a match between Ballymackey Football Club's B Team and Rear Cross Football Club.
Gardaí said the man had been participating in a soccer game being played under floodlights at a sports venue in the village.
He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel and was then taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for further assessment.
His injuries are not life-threatening.
The scene has been preserved for forensic and technical examination and investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
They are particularly appealing to anyone who may have been hunting in the area at the time to come forward.
