Man seen hitting woman 'multiple times' in 'vicious attack' on street

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a 'vicious attack' which saw a man hit a woman 'multiple times' in the street in south Manchester. The assault took place at around 11.30am yesterday (Saturday) near to the junction of Kirkmanshulme Lane and Stockport Road in Longsight.

The pair then got into a taxi and drove off. Detectives are now trying to trace the driver.

Det Sgt Dave Bird said: "This was a vicious attack whereby a man hit a woman multiple times. After the assault, they both got into a taxi and left along Kirkmanshulme Lane.

"We are keen to trace the whereabouts of the pair and appealing for any witnesses to this attack. We are particularly interested in speaking with the taxi driver or viewing any dash cam footage that drivers in the area may have captured of the incident."
