Man rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries after Longsight Market stabbing

Cops are hunting a knife attacker after a man suffered life-changing injuries in a stabbing near Longsight Market. Emergency services raced out to the scene, on Dickenson Road, at 10.30pm on Monday night (September 2).

Greater Manchester Police says the victim, a 32-year-old man, was rushed to hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing.

A cordon has been in place near Longsight Market throughout the night and this morning. The Manchester Evening News understands forensics investigators have been at the scene this morning, while a tent has been seen in place.

Images from Monday night show several police cars in attendance and a large area taped off. Eyewitnesses reported seeing more than 10 police cars in attendance, blood splatters and 'medical debris' on the ground.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At 10:30pm last night (Monday, September 2) we were called to reports of a stabbing on Dickenson Road, Longsight. The victim, aged 32, was taken to hospital for treatment.

"His injuries are believed to be life changing. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and identify those involved.

"Anyone with information, or who witnessed this incident, or may have dashcam/CCTV footage, is asked to contact police on 0161 8564259 quoting log number 3728 of September 2, 2024. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
