Man on top of crane arrested after FIVE DAY stand-off

A man has been arrested following a five day protest atop a crane in Salford. The man scaled the huge Heyrod crane just off Chapel Street in, Salford at around 5am on Monday (Monday).

Police and fire crews attended the scene near Manchester city centre with locals saying officers tried to communicate with him. However nearby residents say the man told officers he was not coming down and that he could stay up there for at least a week.

It has not been confirmed exactly what the man is protesting against but the banners appeared to refer to the handling of an alleged racist attack.
