Man injured in crash between double decker bus and car with arrest made

A man was taken injured to hospital after a collision involving a double-decker bus and a car.

Greater Manchester Police today confirmed a 43 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving in relation to the crash in north Manchester on Friday night. There's been no update as to whether he remains in custody for questioning.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters assessed a man and a woman at the scene in New Moston, before the man was subsequently taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police described his injuries as non life-threatening. Emergency services were called to Moston Lane, near the junction of Nuthurst Road and Broadfield fields, at around 8pm on Friday night. Fire crews remained at the scene for almost an hour.

It's understood no one on the bus was injured and there have been no further reports of any further injuries.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Just before 8pm on Friday 17 November, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Moston Lane, Manchester.

"Two fire engines from Blackley and Phillips Park stations were quickly mobilised to the incident, which involved a car and a double-decker bus. Firefighters assessed a man and a woman at the scene; the man was later taken to hospital by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

"Firefighters helped make the area safe before handing the scene over to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). GMFRS crews were in attendance for about 50 minutes."
