Man dies outside apartment block as forensic tent put in place

A man has tragically died outside a block of apartments in Salford. Emergency services were called out to Chapel Wharf, on Chapel Street, at around 1am this morning (September 7).

It followed concerns for the welfare of a man. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services.

Enquiries are currently ongoing. It's understood the death is not currently thought to be suspicious.

A forensic tent was seen in place on the ground outside a block of flats at the major development in the early hours of this morning. Police and firefighters were seen in attendance.

The man's age is not currently known. A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 1am this morning (Thursday, September 7 2023), officers responded to reports regarding the concern for the welfare of a man in Chapel Street, Salford.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing."
