Man dies after falling from bridge on M62

A man died after falling from a bridge over the M62 on Easter Monday (April 1). Emergency services raced to the incident between junctions 23 and 24 at around 6.15pm.

The motorway was closed in both directions as police and paramedics attended the scene. All traffic was stopped after the incident as an air ambulance also landed.

The man, whose age is not known, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A number of emergency services vehicles were pictured at the scene, along with a police car on the motorway bridge. Highways officers assisted with traffic management before the carriageway later reopened, shortly after 8pm.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 6.15pm yesterday (Monday), police received reports that a male had fallen from a bridge over the M62 between junctions 23 and 24.

"Emergency services attended and found the male, who was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Coroner."
