Man City vs Liverpool Community Shield set for protest banner featuring Erling Haaland

A protest banner featuring Erling Haaland is due to be displayed ahead of Manchester City's Community Shield match against Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola's side take on Liverpool this Saturday as the traditional curtain raiser for the new season sees the reigning Premier League champions take on the holders of the FA Cup. The match normally takes place at Wembley Stadium but this year it is being held at Leicester's King Power Stadium due to the final of the UEFA Women's European Championship being held in the capital.

It is expected that Erling Haaland will make his competitive debut against Jurgen Klopp's side as Guardiola has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from. Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez and Stefan Ortega are also all hoping to make their competitive debuts for City.

However, in a strange turn of events, there is now an off-field distraction looming large ahead of kick-off.

'Clean Up Britain' is a national anti-litter and fly-tipping campaign that focuses on 'finding sustainable and effective solutions to Britain’s epidemic of litter and fly-tipping.'

They have announced that they are due to fly a 50-metre protest banner over the King Power Stadium 15 minutes before kick-off. The banner features a picture of City's new signing Haaland along with the message: "Welcome Erling - DontTrashOurFuture.co.uk"
