Man City star sends Arsenal warning after closing gap in Premier League title race

Kalvin Phillips admits the Manchester City players have always known they were capable of compiling their current winning run to close the gap on Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

After winning 3-1 at home to Leicester City, Pep Guardiola's side have now won ten straight matches across all competitions, including their last six in the league, to reduce the gap between themselves and the Premier League leaders to just three points before Arsenal are in action against West Ham United.

Regardless of the result in Sunday's London derby, City still have a game in hand over Mikel Arteta's team and meet them in Manchester later this month for a potential title decider.

Phillips, who was introduced as a substitute early in the second half against Leicester, replacing Rodri with the hosts already three goals in front, has opened up on the belief and determination within the City squad as the end of the season approaches. "We said it from quite early on that we've got enough in the dressing room to go on a really good run," the midfielder told club media in the aftermath of Saturday evening's match.

"We try not to take anything for granted and keep pushing ourselves to become better and better every day. If we are not pushing ourselves, then we have a manager who is definitely going to push us.

"We're in very good form; the lads are buzzing because we're three points closer to Arsenal and looking forward to the midweek game (against Bayern Munich)."
