Man City 'sanction Taylor Harwood-Bellis loan' and more transfer rumours

Southampton have beaten Leeds United to the signature of Manchester City youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis, according to reports.

The defender spent last season on loan at Burnley, helping them to win the Championship title. Second-tier clubs have again been on red alert with Leeds and the Saints credited with an interest. According to The Telegraph, Russell Martin's side have won the race to secure his services.

Nottingham Forest and West Ham United were interested in permanent deals but City have decided another second-tier loan is the best course of action. The England Under-21 international needs regular game time to continue his development.

It's thought the possession-heavy style of football on offer at St Mary's tallies with City's style of play under Pep Guardiola. Former City assistant and current Leicester boss Enzo Maresca was also thought to be keen on a loan deal.

Elsewhere, Norwich City are set to sign City youngster Daniel Ogwuru, according to reports. The 18-year-old signed a scholarship with City in 2021 and went on to help the Under-18s win the league title the following season.

He impressed during that spell, netting 15 times in 26 outings and grabbing five assists. Ogwuru also featured for the Under-21s.

However, City have decided to cash in, according to Football Insider. They report that he is set to join David Wagner's Canaries on a permanent basis.

Should the move happen, City will add to the incredible total they have made from academy products this summer. The expected sale of Cole Palmer will take that sum to over £100m.
