Man City 'poised to enter January market for Erling Haaland replacement' and other transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly poised to enter the January transfer market to replace Erling Haaland should his injury be worse than first feared.

Haaland was a surprise absentee from the squad which beat Luton Town on Sunday. After the victory, Pep Guardiola told reporters the Norwegian had suffered a stress injury to his foot but insisted it was not a fracture.

When asked for a timeframe, Guardiola claimed he could make a return during the Club World Cup which starts on December 19 but admitted this could be too soon. According to Football Insider, City are ready to delve into next month's window at a moment's notice should Haaland's injury be worse than expected.

It is understood the money is there for the Blues to bring in a stand-in for their striker. However, it was stressed City have no intention of making too many big moves in January if they can avoid it.

Elsewhere, 90min claims City hold an interest in signing Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies. The Canadian has become a star for the Bavarian club and it is understood the Blues and Real Madrid hold a firm interest in the left-sided player.

But, Bayern do not wish to let their player go easily. Director of football at the Allianz Arena, Christoph Freund, has insisted the club are in talks to renew the 23-year-old's contract in Germany.

He said: "We’re in talks, we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks." Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol have been the two players entrusted with the left-back role this season.
