Man City player ratings vs Fluminense as John Stones and Phil Foden excellent
Manchester City were crowned world champions in Jeddah after beating Brazilian side Fluminense 4-0 in the Club World Cup final.
The Blues got off to a stunning start when Julian Alvarez scored after just 40 seconds but they were given a test by the Copa Libetadores champions, who play a unique style under head coach Fernando Diniz. They pressed City in the early stages and played out from the back while under pressure and they were well in the game for most of the first half.
But City gradually took control on a steaming hot night and an own goal from Nino before the break was followed by Phil Foden scoring 18 minutes from time to secure a fifth trophy of 2023 for Pep Guardiola's remarkable side.

Made an excellent save from Arias in the first half but had some unconvincing moments with the ball at his feet. Passing often awry and was upstaged in that department by a 43-year-old goalkeeper. 6

Wasteful with the ball at times in the first half, especially in that chaotic first 20 minutes or so, but defended resolutely after that and used his pace well. 7

Vital in helping City get control of the game. Not as dominant as he has been with those midfield runs but his presence and passing allowed them to build a rhythm. 8

Had to do his fair share of one-v-one defending and stood up to the challenge well after a tricky few weeks. Solid performance. 7
