Man City player ratings vs Everton as Erling Haaland shines

Manchester City eventually overcame Everton to claim a tenth straight win in all competitions.

Pep Guardiola's side were made to work by a dogged Everton side and were sluggish in the first half. However, two goals from Erling Haaland in the final 20 minutes of the game settled the affair to move the Blues temporarily to the top of the table.

Kevin De Bruyne came off the bench to pick up an assist and City will move on to play Copenhagen in the Champions League with confidence next week as their fine form continues. Here are the player ratings.

Ederson: Had very little to do, although did well to stay on for the game after getting an early kick to the face from Godfrey. 6

Akanji: A first start after injury, and switching his time between defence and midfield. Wasn't able to push City on. 6

Stones: Similar to Akanji, couldn't find his top level as he works his way back from injury to top form. 6

Rodri: Controlling everything again, albeit needed to up the tempo in the second half to get the team motoring. 7

Foden: Pushed out to the right, he was City's brightest in the first half but lost a little bit of influence after the break. 7

Alvarez: Wasn't able to link well with Haaland and struggled to test Pickford. 6

Nunes: Never settled into the game and made too many poor decisions when he did get onto the ball. 5
