Man City player ratings vs Club Brugge with two 5/10s and one 4/10 as Savinho stars

Manchester City survived a scare to book their place in the Champions League play-off after beating Club Brugge 3-1.

The Blues were well below their best and were stunned when Raphael Onyedika lashed home the opening goal on the stroke of half-time to see them losing at the break. Needing a victory to qualify, Mateo Kovacic dragged them level and Josko Gvardiol's cross was then turned in by a defender.

It still wasn't comfortable for City until substitute Savinho scored a third with 15 minutes to go and they played out the rest of the game with patience. Here are the player ratings.

Ederson: Came out of his box smartly to snuff out danger. Could he have done better with the goal? Decent saves in the second half. 6

Nunes: Two schoolboy errors in the first 45 minutes that should put paid to him at right-back. He has his qualities but they are not defensive. 4

Stones: Missed a sitter at the start of the second half, and looked understandably rusty settling into the defence. 6

Akanji: Lurking again for the goal, although he just about kept the composure at the back as City held on. 6

Gvardiol: One of City's best attackers again, and got his reward with the second goal. Some big blocks at the back too. Undroppable. 8

Kovacic: He is a big part of why City were so wide open for Club Brugge to tear through, yet he also forced and scored the equaliser. 6

Silva: His workrate keeps him in the team but he needs to offer more going forward than he did tonight. 6

De Bruyne: Radar was way off for most of the game, with some good chances missed or wasted as his decisions didn't come off. 5

Gundogan: Played higher up the pitch in a more familiar role and nearly found a few openings butt was taken off at half-time. 6
