Man City player ratings vs Celtic as Oscar Bobb brilliant but Kalvin Phillips poor
Manchester City began their pre-season campaign with a high-scoring affair against Celtic - with Oscar Bobb the standout for Pep Guardiola's men.
Bobb ended the game with two assists and a goal, with Erling Haaland also on the mark with a powerful header. City went in at half-time 3-1 down after some poor defending, with Bobb's opener briefly drawing them level at 1-1 as he squeezed a shot under Kasper Schmeichel.
Substitute Maximo Perrone pulled one back immediately after half time with Haaland's header making it 3-3, both set up by Bobb. But Luis Palma had the easiest finish to win the game for Celtic as City's inexperienced high line was caught out.

This is how we rated the City players at the Kenan Memorial Stadium:
Stefan Ortega
Helpless for the three goals that went past him, with fault lying ahead of him. But perhaps significant that he started ahead of Ederson. 6.
Rico Lewis
Smart in and out of possession, inverting into midfield in the new-look system that saw both full-backs pushing inside. 7
Luke Mbete
Pushed up needlessly for the first goal and slightly out of position for the second and third. Replaced at half-time. 5
Jahmai Simpson-Pusey
The Youth Cup-winning captain looked a little nervy on his first senior outing, and perhaps a little naive out of possession. But a great experience and one he will learn from. 6
Josh Wilson-Esbrand
Asked to invert inside, he looked fine with the ball but Celtic targeted him without it and all three first half goals came on his side. Improved in the second half. 5
Kalvin Phillips
