Man City pair can create history by defeating Liverpool FC duo

Manchester City duo Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden have been nominated for the PFA Fans' Player of the Year award.

The Blues will be fully focused on the season finale against Aston Villa on Sunday, a match Pep Guardiola's side must win if they are to make sure of securing a fourth Premier League title in five seasons. Both De Bruyne and Foden have played significant roles for City this season. De Bruyne, after enduring a tough start to the campaign, has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in his last 18 Premier League games, including important strikes against Chelsea and Liverpool and a four-goal masterclass against Wolves.

De Bruyne could well make history by becoming the first player to win the PFA's other major award - Players' Player of the Year - for a third consecutive year. The Belgian scooped the prize in both 2020 and 2021, and will find out next month if his peers have selected him again.

Foden has also enjoyed a successful season for the Blues, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists in 44 matches in all competitions. Last season's PFA Young Player of the Year winner has impressed fans with his selfless performances at false nine, and his creativity in both wide and central roles.

The City duo are up for the award against Declan Rice, Conor Gallagher, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

City Women defender Alex Greenwood has also been nominated for the Fans' Player of the Year award.

The nominees for the prizes - awarded by the Professional Footballers' Association - were chosen by members, but fans will
