Man City loanee Tommy Doyle makes Premier League admission after Sheffield United promotion

Manchester City loanee Tommy Doyle has admitted he would be 'buzzing' to return to Sheffield United next season after securing promotion to the Premier League on Wednesday night.

While the Blues were taking a big step towards the Premier League, the Blades were booking their place in the promised land with a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion. Sander Berge and Anel Ahmedhozic both scored at Bramall Lane to spark jubilant scenes.

For Doyle, the win marked his first promotion in his senior career and when asked about returning to South Yorkshire next season, he admitted he was open to the possibility. Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, the 21-year-old central midfielder said: "When you come to a club like Sheffield United, you have to buy into it and that is the only way you become successful.

"I have done that and so has Macca [James McAtee] and that has what has got us into this place where we are now thanks to the lads and the hard work. Listen you never know.

"I have a great feeling now for this club, I have loved every minute and if I come back I will be buzzing. If I don't I can only thank Sheffield United for how they treated me." Doyle missed out on the chance to play in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend after the Blades drew his parent club.

While he admitted it was tough missing Wembley, he highlighted how he stayed focus on the project with Paul Heckingbottom's team. "I want to be as successful as possible," Doyle added.

"I am used to winning things in the academy with City and now I have a promotion with Sheffield United. Hopefully I can go into the Premier League now and show what I am capable of."
