Man City launch bid to build new £10m training ground facility

Manchester City have submitted a planning application to build on their training ground and improve facilities for their women’s team.

City unveiled the £200m facility in 2014 to house their first team and women’s team, as well as bringing the academy under the same roof to move the youngsters from Platt Lane. One of the two main buildings at the complex houses Pep Guardiola and his side, while the women’s team and academy have shared the other.

City believe this is the right time for the women’s team to have a separate space, and have put a proposal to Manchester City Council illustrating what they want to do featuring a £10m standalone 17,000 square-foot building including a hydrotherapy area, a high-performance gym and an analytics space. If given the green light, the club would look to open the new space in 2025 and there would also be room to extend it further in future.
