Man City 'keeping close eye' on £90m star who ran riot at Etihad

Manchester City will still be “keeping an eye on” Tottenham striker Harry Kane, claims transfer insider Pete O’Rourke.

The 28-year-old was a target for the Premier League champions last summer but, in the end, they were unable to get a deal done.

City boss Pep Guardiola recently hinted that his club made four attempts to sign Kane, who has been hailed as “unplayable” by Robbie Keane, in the 2021 summer transfer window.

As per the Daily Mail, the Spaniard said: “We tried but Tottenham were clear that it was not going to happen. When that happens two, three, four times, it’s over.”

Kane’s failed move to City seemed to have had a toll on him, with the Englishman not scoring his first Premier League goal of the season until October.

However, he has since reminded everyone what he is capable of, recently punishing his suitors from last summer after scoring twice in Tottenham’s 3-2 win at the Etihad.

O’Rourke does not think this story is over yet and believes City are still keen on signing the man they missed out on last year.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the football journalist said: “I’m sure Man City will be keeping a close eye on him as they look to bring in their No.9 striker.”

Despite City not really having a recognised No.9 in their squad, the need to sign one like Kane is not urgent.

Without a striker, they have got on just fine this season, currently sitting top of the Premier League and destined to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Sporting Lisbon 5-0 in the first leg of their last-16 encounter.

Still, you can never say no to adding more quality to your squad, and Guardiola will know that as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool
