Man City have two new undroppables as £77.5m double signing already looks to be paying off

As the Club World Cup heads into the knockout stages, you would be hard pressed to find anybody who doesn't believe Manchester City have been the competition's best performers so far.

City's 5-2 win over Juventus on Thursday not only saw them finish top of Group G but also ensured they were the only team to win all three of their group matches.

Pep Guardiola hinted he is beginning to see the City of old as the club's new signings already look to be gelling with their proven performers.

So as we build towards the last 16, our writers have picked out which City players they feel have stood out the most so far in the United States.

The FIFA Club World Cup will see 32 of the world's best club teams including Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich play across 63 games from June 14-July 13.

In what has been an immensely positive fortnight for City, three players seem to have stood out more than most. Tijjani Reijnders has looked very classy in the two starts he has made, with perhaps unsurprisingly his best performance coming against Italian opposition.

As impressive, Rayan Ait-Nouri has had two very different but equally good displays. Against Al Ain, he bombed down the left flank with abandon and was excellent in the final third but with Jeremy Doku out wide against Juventus, Ait-Nouri tucked in and was as effective; he set up Doku for the opening goal.

It is striking how well both new signings have settled into the team and struck up relationships with other players. That chemistry was lacking last season and it bodes well, with Ait-Nouri bonding well with fellow French speaker Doku.

Doku is my third pick after another matchwinning turn
