Man City have selection dilemma vs Newcastle and could hand debut to new signing

Erling Haaland has had a great start at Manchester City already but, by Pep Guardiola's own admission, the team still needs to get used to playing with a proper striker leading the line, while the Norwegian is still acclimatising to his new manager's methods. So there is scope for Gomez to get out on the pitch for the first time in a Blue shirt, just a few days after joining the club. The Spaniard has some exciting, attacking pedigree that there could be a first glimpse of at St. James' Park.

Guardiola was rightly dismissive of City's early lead over Liverpool, which is at four points after the Reds drew their opening two fixtures, in his pre-match press conference but it certainly wouldn't do any harm to stretch that lead further. There are 108 points still to play for and Liverpool made up a considerable gap to run City close last season, so absolutely nothing is getting settled any time
