Man City have secret weapon to sign Julian Alvarez transfer replacement amid Pep Guardiola claim
Manchester City face will face at least two more transfer decisions after accepting Atletico Madrid's offer for Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine and Pep Guardiola openly discussed the former's future while he participated in the Copa America and Paris Olympics, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs alerted to possibly sanctioning a stunning transfer.
Finances for both London clubs were tight, though, which made actually signing Alvarez a challenge, but that was not a problem for Atletico. The Spanish club entered into the transfer race for the 24-year-old with a bang as they submitted a package offer worth £64million (€75m).
Their opening offer was rebuffed but talks continued with an agreement struck at £81.7million (€95m), with around £64million of that to arrive up front. "It was a joy to work with him. I learnt a lot from him and hopefully he can find what he was looking for," Guardiola said when asked about the impending exit of Alvarez.

Pressed on why he wanted to depart, the City boss added: "He believes his period here must be over so both clubs arrive to an agreement. He's incredibly loved by the team for his behaviour but like I said many times for many players, he wants to leave and have a new challenge."
As a clear indication of his importance, Alvarez missed just two Premier League games last season with 54 appearances made in all competitions and 32 goal contributions arriving in that time.
