Man City have helped Manchester United find the perfect backup for David de Gea

With Dean Henderson joining Nottingham Forest on loan this summer, Manchester United are left in a situation where they need a backup goalkeeper to support David de Gea. Tom Heaton is still at the club but he is currently considered third choice.

So what options do United have? The Manchester Evening News understands that the club have considered both Daniel Bachmann from Watford and Karl Darlow from Newcastle.

However, one of United's best options may have already been snapped up. 29-year-old Stefan Ortega was a standout performer for Arminia Bielefeld in the 2021/22 campaign and is brilliant with the ball at his feet. Riemann takes on average 55.38 touches per game, showing he is incredibly comfortable on the ball. He also has a launched pass completion percentage of 69.9.
