Man City 'handed boost in Rafael Leao pursuit' and more transfer rumours

Manchester City have reportedly been handed a boost in their rumoured pursuit of AC Milan star Rafael Leao, with the Portuguese star still no closer to signing a new contract at the San Siro.

According to Calciomercato, the Italian giants have offered the 23-year-old around €6million per season, but the attacker is holding out for a fixed wage of €7.5million. It adds that the two parties will use the international break to continue contract negotiations.

It is thought that Leao is open to staying at Milan, but with the player out of contract in 2024, this summer would represent Milan's last chance to get a sizeable transfer fee for his services. Pep Guardiola's side have been linked with a move for the forward on several occasions in recent months, which is not surprising given his form this season.

Leao has registered nine goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances in all competitions, which comes after he scored 14 times for the Serie A outfit last campaign.

Elsewhere, reporters suggest that West Ham are one of the clubs looking at City midfielder Kalvin Phillips ahead of the summer transfer window.

The England international has struggled for form and fitness at the Etihad since joining the club from Leeds United, with the 27-year-old making just 13 appearances in all competitions this term. His lack of action under Guardiola has seen him linked with a move away from the Blues in recent months.

However, it's claimed City are not yet considering selling Phillips, although the situation could potentially change depending on any offers they receive for the midfielder.
