Man City face five major transfer calls that define Pep Guardiola era

Manchester City may have just one year of Pep Guardiola left.

And if he is to call it a day at the end of the season, it remains to be seen how many players in the squad will be close to outlasting his nine years at the Etihad. Many have won multiple Premier League titles under the manager, but decisions need to be made on some of the longest-serving stars as they approach the end of their contracts.

The two most pressing are Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson, with both having interest from the Saudi Pro League this summer. City are open to receiving an offer for either, but if they do stay in Manchester then talks will have to be had over new contracts.

De Bruyne is into the final 12 months of his deal, but could stretch his stay beyond 10 years if he signs a new contract. City have to weigh up the value that the 33-year-old still brings and how many years at the top he has left in him.

Ederson is only 30 and should have many years left as a No.1, particularly given it was made clear that Stefan Ortega was signing a new contract this summer as a No.2 despite his heroics against Tottenham in the penultimate match of the Premier League campaign. If the Brazilian is to reject Saudi advances though, he will want the assurances of a contract beyond 2026.

The same goes for John Stones, who is the second-longest serving player in Guardiola's squad after De Bruyne. The City defender has just two years left on his deal at the Etihad and the club do not want to be entering a position where there is no clarity on the future of the 30-year-old.
