Man City could sign Marco Verratti in three-way deal and other transfer rumours

Manchester City could be part of a sensational three-way deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Marco Verratti, according to a Spanish journalist.

The Blues are currently fretting over the future of Bernardo Silva and there is still no confirmation whether the 27-year-old will remain at the Etihad Stadium this summer. Last week, Pep Guardiola maintained his stance that unhappy players are allowed to leave the club, but an acceptable offer must be presented.

Barcelona are being closely linked with landing his signature, but the Catalan giants are in a heap of financial debt and are struggling to register players they've already signed earlier this summer.

They still carry a long-standing interest in Silva, but any deal could be resting on a number of other negotiations. According to Gerard Romero, Frenkie de Jong's proposed move to PSG could trigger City to move for Italian midfielder, Marco Verratti.

Speaking on his daily transfer livestream, he said: “There is a rumour circulating among some agents of players, and it is that there may be a transfer activity involving 3 teams: 1) Frenkie de Jong to PSG, 2) Marco Verratti to Manchester City, and 3) Bernardo Silva to Barcelona.”

After winning the European Championships with his native Italy, the diminutive midfielder has continued to maintain elite levels of performance for the French champions. If City were to bring him in and de Jong's high wages were cleared from Barça's budget, it would finally make a move for Silva possible.

With just three weeks to go in the summer window, it would take a massive effort for all three deals to go through and is unlikely to happen
