Man City 'considering' Riyad Mahrez replacement from Ligue 1 and other transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a move for Lyon youngster Bradley Barcola.

That is according to 90min, who report that City view the 20-year-old as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez - who is set to sign for Al Ahli in a £30million deal. Several big-name stars are moving to the Saudi Pro League this summer and the Algerian winger looks set to bring his five-year stay in Manchester to an end.

Barcola is being touted as a player who could fill the void left by Mahrez. City have already lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona this transfer window and Bernardo Silva's immediate future remains uncertain. City are said to have scouted the France Under-21 international, along with his club team-mate Rayan Cherki.

A senior debut in Lyon colours was handed to Barcola back in January 2023. He went on to score five goals and register eight assists in 25 Ligue 1 outings. City are claimed to be 'thoroughly impressed' by the attacker, while Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig have reportedly enquired about him too.

Elsewhere, Brighton and Hove Albion are said to want Cole Palmer permanently. It was reported earlier this week that the Seagulls were leading the race for Palmer, who has had limited minutes in City colours. The Athletic suggest that Brighton would prefer to sign Palmer instead of loaning him in, though City chief Pep Guardiola has 'no intention' of doing so according to The Telegraph.
