Man City and Brighton '£20m apart' in Marc Cucurella talks and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are still intent on signing Brighton's Marc Cucurella this summer, but only for the right price.

ESPN claim that Brighton and City are £20m apart in their valuation for the Spanish full-back as the two teams try to find a transfer fee that works for both sides. With Oleksandr Zinchenko on his way to Arsenal, Joao Cancelo currently stands as Pep Guardiola's only designated left-back heading into the 2022/23 season.

Brighton have no need to sell the 23-year-old to City and are therefore in a strong negotiating position as they hold out for a figure rumoured to be in excess of £50m. It is believed that the Premier League champions have no intention of spending that much on a player who only cost Brighton £15m when he joined the Seagulls from Getafe last summer.

Regardless of City's financial strength in the transfer window, they will not throw money at a player simply to get a deal done, meaning that these negotiations could rumble on for weeks.

Elsewhere, The Athletic report that that Bayer Leverkusen are set to sign City youngster Samuel Edozie when Zinchenko's deal to Arsenal is finalised.

The 19-year-old has made just one appearance for Guardiola's side and it is reported that City would be willing to part company with the English winger for a fee of £10m.

Edozie signed from Millwall in 2019 and has spent his time playing for the club's U18 and U23 sides as a place in the senior squad just evaded him. The youngster is currently in Croatia training with the youth team as the two clubs work out a fee before a move to the Bundesliga can be finalised.
