Chelsea interested in Marc Cucurella as Man City deal 'stalls' and more transfer rumours

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella as his proposed move to Manchester City stalls.

After securing the services of Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega this summer, City have completely turned their attention to signing a left-back. There have been small links with other players, but it is quite clear that Cucurella is the club's number one target.

The sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko leaves City with no natural left-back, but it is worth remembering Joao Cancelo's best form last season was in that area of the pitch. However, with a jam-packed season coming up, the need for reinforcements has escalated.

According to Craig Hope at the Daily Mail, Chelsea are pushing to hijack City's deal for Cucurella and are hoping to persuade the Spaniard to link up with Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Goal claim the Blues have scouted a number of left-backs in anticipation of this summer's recruitment drive.

Stuttgart's Borna Sosa and Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri are the two names on City's list, but nothing is at an advanced stage and Pep Guardiola has previously stated he is happy to go into the season with his current options.

This report goes hand in hand with the earlier information that City are willing to walk away from the Cucurella deal if the south coast outfit don't budge on their current valuation.
