Man City agree Erling Haaland mega-deal after £67m transfer in drastic title race action

Erling Haaland has signed a new nine-and-a-half-year deal at Manchester City.

The striker has previously been linked with Real Madrid, and his previous terms with City were due to expire in June 2027. But the 24-year-old has now extended his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2034.

It is reported that any release clauses put in his last deal have been removed. Haaland has scored a staggering 111 goals in 126 games for City and lifted two English top-flight titles, an FA Cup, the Champions League and a Super Cup.

"I am going to stay for a long time," he said. "Now I can fully focus on getting better because I am going to stay here for such a long time. Full focus on performing and getting better to give all of the fans what they want.

"To score the most goals ever in a Premier League season is special and I will do everything I can to try and get close to the record in the future. It is not going to be easy, but it was a special thing and I am really happy that I did it.”

"Now I am City no matter what. I want to keep developing, keep working to get better and look to do my best to try and help us achieve more success going forward.”

Haaland's new deal in east Manchester comes amid City agreeing a transfer for £67m-rated Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush. Eintracht were expecting to include Marmoush in their squad for Friday's Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund, however talks with City progressed on Thursday and the two clubs have now verbally agreed a fee for the Egyptian.

City's activity in January has taken place amid their collapse in form over the past few months. Pep Guardiola's side have all but conceded the league title with the reigning champions 12 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
