Man City 4-1 Fulham highlights and reaction as Gundogan, Stones and Mahrez strike after Carvalho opener

Manchester City did what Manchester United didn't and successfully negotiate an FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to Championship opposition.

United fielded a strong side on Friday, but stuttered against Middlesbrough and lost on penalties at Old Trafford, while Chelsea and West Ham also struggled against lower-league opposition on Saturday. City didn't have any such problems though as they beat Fulham comfortably.

Pep Guardiola was without Gabriel Jesus and Cole Palmer and named a strong side including Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne and Joao Cancelo.

Fulham took the lead early on as Fabio Carvalho converted on four minutes, but Ilkay Gundogan was on hand a minute later to quickly level the scores. John Stones headed in from a corner on 13 minutes to put City in control, and a Riyad Mahrez brace in the second half sent City safely through to the fifth round.

The win, against the runaway top scorers in the four divisions of English football, came with the Blues ' usual egalitarian method of coping without a regular goalscorer by everybody chipping in.
