Man charged with assault after 'fight' in Piccadilly Gardens left man with head injuries

A man from South Manchester has been charged with assault after a fight in Piccadilly Gardens broke out earlier this week. Chesdou Tenda, 41, of Amhurst Road, Fallowfield, is set to appear in court tomorrow.

Tenda has been charged with section 18 assault after an alleged fight in Piccadilly Gardens on Monday night (April 25). A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after the incident but was discharged soon after.

Police were called at 10.20pm to the city centre where a man was found with a head wound. An eyewitness told the MEN how there was 'blood everywhere' after the incident.

A cordon was put in place, with a section of Piccadilly Gardens taped off on Tuesday morning. Pictures taken at the scene showed evidence markers in place on the ground within the police tape. The cordon was lifted by around 10.30am.

In a statement posted to Twitter, GMP Manchester City Centre, said: "We've charged a man with section 18 assault after an alleged fight in Piccadilly Gardens on Monday night. Chesdou Tenda (41), of Amhurst Road, Fallowfield, has been remanded in custody and will appear in court tomorrow. A man in his 30s was taken to hospital."
