Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after shooting and stabbing in Hulme

A man has been arrested after a shooting and stabbing in Hulme.

The suspect is being held on suspicion of attempted murder.

The development follows an incident in Eliza Street in the early hours of Monday.

Locals reported hearing a loud bang at around 3am, and then a man was later found with wound to his neck after being stabbed.

In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 3.40am on Monday 7 February 2022, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Eliza Street, Manchester.

"Enquiries have established that a firearm had been discharged and a 49-year-old man had been stabbed.

"Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with a stab wound to the neck. He has since been discharged from hospital.

"Today (8 February) officers arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of attempt murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4409 quoting incident number 309 of 07/02/22."
