Man and woman remain in hospital after BMW smashes into wall

A man and a woman are still in hospital after a BMW 'mounted a kerb and smashed into a wall' in Salford.

Police say the vehicle is believed to have clipped a kerb before mounting the pavement while driving down Leigh Road in Worsley at around 3:30am on January 19. Pictures show a completely destroyed brick wall near the entrance to a property, with bricks and rubble scattered across the pavement and road.

A man in his 30s received serious, life-threatening injuries, and a woman in her 40s also received injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening or changing. The pair both remain in hospital for treatment.

A man who lives next-door to the wall that was hit said he saw the car's headlights facing towards his house before it smashed into the wall.

"It hit a kerb and then the next thing I saw it was sideways," he said. "It had hit a kerb further down then by the time it reached this bit of the road, it was sideways.

"Then it hit the wall, it bounced off and ended upside down on the other side of the road. There was everything here, police, ambulance, everything. All from around 3am this morning."

Officers are now appealing for more information to assist their investigation. They have asked anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from around the time of the incident to come forward.
