Man, 73, dies after being hit by a lorry in Salford

A 73-year-old man has died after he was hit by a lorry in Salford on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to Worsley Road North, the scene of the fatal incident, just before 3pm, February 8.

They found that a man had been been involved with a collision with a lorry and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle is assisting officers, and no arrests have been made.

Officers from the Serious Collision Unit remain at the scene, where a large cordon was erected on the main road.

Police, paramedics and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.

Transport for Greater Manchester announced that the road had closed shortly after 3pm as traffic was diverted.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers attended Worsley Road North, Salford, at 2:50pm on 8 February 2022 to reports of a road traffic collision.
