Man, 33, dies after 'speeding car on wrong side of road' crashed into him in hit-and-run

A man has died from his injuries after being hit by a 'speeding' car as he crossed the road. Police rushed out to Dickenson Road, in Longsight, on Monday night (September 2) following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

Greater Manchester Police believes the car was being driven at speed and on the wrong side of the road when it struck the 33-year-old man near Anson Road. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Tragically, GMP confirmed the man has since died in an update issued this morning (Wednesday). Two men, aged 19 and 21, were previously arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The driver had fled the scene of the collision on Monday night. Police arrested the two men a short time later on Adelphi Street, in Salford.
