Man, 27, fighting for life in hospital after being hit by 'motor vehicle'

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Chadderton. Emergency services descended on Middleton Road at 8.20pm on Sunday night (July 16).

Police confirmed they were called to reports that a 'motor vehicle' had collided with a cyclist. The cyclist, a 27-year-old man was rushed to hospital by paramedics.

He currently remains in hospital in a critical condition. Police say he has serious injuries which are believed to be life-threatening.

GMP have launched an investigation and have confirmed that so far, no arrests have been made. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, they added.

They are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have information, to contact the force's Serious Collision Unit immediately.

In a statement, they said: "At around 8.20pm yesterday (Sunday 16 July 2023) officers were called to reports that a motor vehicle collided with a pedal cyclist.

"Officers and colleagues from North West Ambulance Service attended and took the injured pedal cyclist, a 27-year-old man, to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"He has serious injuries which are believed at this time to be life threatening. No arrests have been made and the driver of the motor vehicle is assisting police with their enquiries.

"Police are now appealing for people who may have seen anything, or anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage, to please get in touch."
