Mamelodi Sundowns cruise into Nedbank Cup Round of 16 in Richards Bay
Mamelodi Sundowns eased into the next round of the Nedbank Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Richards Bay at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
Bradley Ralani marked his Masandawana debut with a goal while Rushine De Reuck, Pavol Safranko and Peter Shalulile also got on the scoresheet.
Already firm favourites to wrap up their fifth consecutive league title, Sundowns showed they will also be a threat in Cup competitions as they put the GladAfrica Championship side to the sword.
The visitors took the lead midway through the first half as Ralani celebrated his move from Cape Town City in the recent January transfer window in style.
Impressive right-back Khuliso Mudau found space down the right-hand side and flashed in a cross that could only be parried away by goalkeeper Malcolm Jacobs, with Ralani following up and applying the finish.
Sundowns dominated possession with Richards Bay only looking a threat on the counter-attack, but even on the odd occasion when the hosts ventured forward they were let down by a poor final ball.
Masandawana doubled their lead in the 54th minute when defender Rushine De Reuck leaped highest from a Thabiso Kutumela corner and buried a header in the back of the net.
The visitors were in cruise control and found a third goal when substitute Pavol Safranko found space in the box and headed in from a Mudua cross.
There was still time for Shalulile to register his goal as the Namibian forward headed past Jacobs to cap a fine Sundowns performance.
