Malcolm McPherson appointed Hibs non executive chairman as Ian Gordon joins Easter Road board

Hibs have appointed a new non-executive chairman and vice chairman.

The Easter Road club needed to restructure at boardroom level following the death of Ron Gordon, who was the majority shareholder and executive chairman of the Leith club. He passed away last week following a battle with cancer, and a memorial was held for the American in Edinburgh earlier today.

Now the Hibees have made several new appointments to the board. Malcolm McPherson takes on the role of non-executive chairman, as nominated by the Gordon family. The lawyer will be supported by Kathrin Hamilton, who becomes non-executive vice chairman. Both initial Gordon appointments, they have been joined on the board by Ian Gordon, Ron’s son and the Premiership outfit's current head of recruitment, and Kit Gordon. A club statement read: “Hibernian FC has appointed Malcolm McPherson as the Club’s Non-Executive Chairman. McPherson has had a long-term affiliation with the Football Club and was nominated for the role by the Gordon Family, and this was supported by the Board at a meeting earlier today.

“A highly respected figure in the Edinburgh and Scottish business community, Malcolm previously held the role of Chairman between 1999 and 2002. He has also served on the Board of Directors during two periods 1998-2002 and 2020-present.

“Away from Hibernian FC, the leading corporate lawyer with Addleshaw Goddard has vast experience as a non-executive director and has served as chairman of many businesses and organisations.

“The Club has also confirmed the appointment of Kathrin Hamilton as Non-Executive Vice-Chairman. Like Malcolm, Kathrin was appointed to the Board by Ronald J Gordon in 2020, and has also been playing a significant role in the growth of Hibernian
