Major road from M4 into Cardiff closed in both directions due to police incident

A section of the A48 in and out of Cardiff was closed in both directions due to a police incident. The road, linking Cardiff to the M4, was closed from the Llanederyn Interchange to the Pentwyn Road roundabout.

The closure was first reported on traffic reporting service Inrix at 7.21pm and police confirmed they were in attendance at 8.05pm.

Police announced at 8.25pm that the road had been re-opened. A statement said: "Thank you for your patience."

When the closure was announced, a South Wales Police statement said: "We are at the scene of an incident on the A48 Cardiff. The road is currently closed in both directions between Southern Way and Llanedeyrn.

"It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible."
