Major disruption on trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport with cancellations - updates
There is major disruption on trains between Manchester and Stockport this morning.
According to National Rail, there are overhead line problems between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport. The damaged lines mean trains will either be delayed or cancelled through the morning rush-hour.
The disruption is expected to last until at least 1pm today (Friday). Operators affected include Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Northern, Transpennine Express and Transport for Wales.

People are being urged to check before they travel. Network Rail engineers are working to fix the issue.
National Rail said: "Damage to the overhead wires between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport means trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled."
In an updated statement at 9.30am, National Rail said: "Some lines have now reopened following damage to the overhead wires between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport. However, whilst services recover, trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled. Disruption is expected until 13:00."

In an update, National Rail said:
Some lines have now reopened following damage to the overhead wires between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport. However, whilst service reocovers, trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled.
Disruption is expected until 13:00.
