Major delays as people cram on trains between Cardiff and Newport - Live updates

Dozens of people have been left queuing for trains between Cardiff and Newport on what promises to be a busy Saturday night. There are currently major delays on services between Cardiff and Cheltenham, Swansea, Bridgend, Ebbw Vale and Maesteg with many passengers also waiting for services to and from the capital and Newport.

The earlier Wales v Georgia match in Cardiff and the Newport Christmas light switch on means both Newport and Cardiff are busier than usual. WalesOnline reporter Conor Gogarty reports all services are delayed from Newport railway station, with one station worker describing several trains jammed outside Cardiff Central due to a points failure.

It follows after rugby fans were warned of disruption to train services following Wales' disappointing clash with Georgia. Great Western Railway (GWR) had advised fans travelling from England to see the match to "board trains immediately after" the fixture concludes. Industrial action involving Network Rail signallers is set to affect fans who attended the game in Cardiff as well as those attending the England v New Zealand game at Twickenham.
