Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has claimed that the centre-forward may be back for the Toon before his teammate Kieran Trippier.

This comes after Football Insider reported that he is making progress in his recovery from the calf injury that has kept him out since December.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think we might see Wilson back a little bit earlier [than Trippier]. But I think because the team are doing so well at the moment, there’s not a need to rush them back.”

The St. James’ Park faithful will surely be buzzing with this as they will be wanting to see Wilson back in action as quickly as possible.
