Maidstone United 1 Farnborough 1 match report: Levi Amantchi earns hosts a point with 92nd-minute equaliser

Levi Amantchi scored an injury-time equaliser as Maidstone drew with Farnborough after a thrilling finish.

Amantchi struck in the second minute of added time to cancel out Taylor Mahoney’s penalty and Boro keeper Jack Turner went on to deny George Fowler and Harry Kyprianou as United chased a winner.

From looking set for victory, the visitors were hanging on desperately at the end.

George Elokobi handed a first start to on-loan Gillingham striker Joe Gbode as the Stones looked to continue their flying form.

He partnered 11-goal leading scorer Amantchi and the pair combined for the Stones’ best opening of a tight first half that was short on chances at either end.

It came in just the sixth minute, with Gbode feeding his fellow frontman, who dragged his shot wide of the far post.

Maidstone looked bright in possession early on, with skipper Sam Corne busy in midfield, Michael Petrasso buzzing about behind the front two and Liam Sole making progress down the right.

It was a tight affair, however, with Farnborough looking to make the most of corners and long throws.

They had the ball in the box several times but Maidstone were nice and solid defensively - a theme during their seven-match winning run going into the game.

Maidstone didn’t look like conceding in open play but fell behind to a penalty seven minutes into the second half.

A mix-up between Lucas Covolan and Devonte Aransibia led to Michael Folivi hitting the deck and Maloney sent the Stones keeper the wrong way from the spot.

Covolan got down well to deny Maloney a second in a crowded penalty area minutes later.

Maidstone made a double change just after the hour mark, introducing Sol Wanjau-Smith and Gavin Hoyte for Gbode and Michael Petrasso.
