Maguire unlikely to make cut as light fades in LA

Leona Maguire looks likely to fall the wrong side of the cut-line with just six groups left to finish at close of play at the LA Open in Wilshire CC.

Maguire carded a second successive 73, five birdies being cancelled out by five bogeys, with a double-bogey tossed in on the par-3 7th. She sits on four over par for the competition, with the projected cut at three over.

Definitely outside the cut line is the other Irish player in the field, Stephanie Meadow carding a steadier 72 on Friday but her opening round of 77 leaves her at seven over.

Setting the pace at the head of the leaderboard are Korea's Jin-Young Ko and Japan's Nasa Hataoka on seven-under par, two strokes clear of Hannah Green in sole possession of third spot.

The Korean lit up the Friday round with a 64, while Hataoka followed her opening round 67 with a 68.
