Magnum ice cream product hit with urgent recall in 'unsafe to eat' warning

A popular ice cream brand has apologised after recalling one of its products amid fears it's unsafe to eat.

Unilever has recalled Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks because they could contain pieces of metal. The packs of three are the only Magnum products affected.

The warning concerns batches L3324, L3325, L3326, L3327, L3328 with a best before date of November 2025. The information can be found printed on the side of the box.

An alert issued by the Food Standards Agency on Friday March 29 read: "Unilever is recalling Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks (3x100ml) because they may contain pieces of metal. The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat."

Customers are being warned not to eat the product. Instead, they should contact the careline team for further guidance by calling 08006781031.

Magnum said: "Magnum is taking the precautionary measure of recalling a limited number of Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks 3x100ml due to internal safety checks showing that they may contain small pieces of metal.

"The safety of the people that buy and use our products is always our number one priority which is why we are recalling these products. No other Magnum products are affected - we apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your co-operation."

The classic Magnum ice creams are sold in a number of supermarkets across the UK, including Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons, Iceland and Tesco. The packs range in price from £3.25 to £2.
