M62 reopens following fatal smash as police hunt two men who ran from scene

The M62 in Cheshire has reopened almost 24 hours after a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 61-year-old man. Emergency services were called to the smash near Warrington in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 29).

Two cars - a grey Mercedes and a silver Skoda Fabia - were involved in the crash which happened at around 3.45am on the eastbound carriageway close to junction 10 for Croft Interchange.

The driver of the Skoda sustained serious injuries and was taken to Warrington District General Hospital. Police later confirmed the man, aged 61 from Wirral, had died.
