M62 LIVE: Delays after crash stops all traffic - updates

There are delays after all traffic was stopped on the M62 this morning following a crash.

Drivers are being warned of delays following the collision on the westbound carriageway between J22 and J21. Pictures from motorway cameras show long queues.

All traffic was stopped for around 20 minutes before one lane re-opened just before 9am. There are still two lanes shut.

Travel service Inrix says: "Queueing traffic and two lanes closed due to accident on M62 Westbound from J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor) to J21 A6193 Sir Isaac Newton Way (Milnrow). All traffic was temporarily held, causing delays. Lane one (of three) remains closed."

This picture, taken from the motorway cameras, shows a single lane of traffic at junction 22.

One motorist has tweeted: "No urgency as usual from the relevant agencies. Hours we’ve been sat here, cars just driving down the hard shoulder etc."

An update from National Highways has said that there is approximately 3.5 miles of congestion.

Travel service, Inrix, have posted an update.

"Long delays and two lanes closed due to accident on M62 Westbound from J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor) to J21 A6193 Sir Isaac Newton Way (Milnrow). Travel time is 30 minutes."

Pictures taken from the M62 show traffic is continuing to build.
