M62 crash LIVE updates as traffic stopped and drivers face M60 queues
Drivers are facing queues ahead of rush hour following a 'multi-vehicle crash' on the M62. Two lanes of traffic have been closed on the M62 eastbound between junctions 18 for Simister Island and 19 for Heywood and Middleton.
All traffic has since been stopped to allow recovery work. Traffic is tailing back to junction 15 on the M60 clockwise, for the Swinton Interchange. There is also slow-moving traffic on the westbound carriageway due to 'onlookers', according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.
An update posted on Inrix said: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident on M62 Eastbound from J18 M66 J4 (Simister Island) to J19 A6046 Middleton Road (Heywood). Congestion to M60 J15 (Swinton Interchange).

"Lanes three and four (of four) are closed. The westbound side is also slowing due to onlookers."
Drivers heading south on the M61, towards the M60, are also facing 25-minute queues as they approach the ring road. Further details about the incident are yet to be confirmed.
