M60 reopens after 'police incident' at Blackley

A stretch of the M60 was reportedly closed in both directions this morning due to what was being described as a 'police incident'

At 5.12am, roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix reported that the motorway was shut clockwise and anticlockwise at Blackley, between J21 at Hollinwood and J20 and the A664 Manchester New Road. Inrix's traffic alert read: "M60 in both directions closed due to police incident from J21 A6104 (Hollinwood) to J20 A664 Manchester New Road (Higher Blackley)."

However, National Highways reported the road was only closed anticlockwise on the entry slip at junction J21. The roads agency's website also reported the closure was due to a police incident.

It said the incident was expected to clear at between 6.30am and 6.45am. At 5.23am, Inrix reported the incident had cleared and the motorway had reopened in both directions.
